Tagalog Poetry

Tula is a Filipino poetry, using the tagalog wordings and has it's own way of developing a great thought. There so many ways to create a tula, it may be a taludturan ( ang taludtud ng isang tula ay pinangkat-pangkat ayon sa pinagkaugalian nitong ayos, ang bawat pangkat na bumubuo sa isang tula ay: kopla, triplet , quatrain, sextet, soneto).

There are type of tula, and these are the following:

• tulang liriko (padamdam) = lyric poem
• elihiya (tungkol sa kamatayan o kalungkutan) = elegy (about death or melancholy)
• oda (paghanga o pagbibigay parangal) = ode (admiration or honoring)
• soneta (binubuo ng 14 taludtod o linya) = sonnet (consists of 14 lines)
• tulang pasalaysay (naratibo) = narrative poem
• tulang padula = dramatic poem
• tanaga = haiku-like poem
• malayang taludturan = free verse

I usually create the free verse and sometimes the narrative poem cause its much easier to create. I also make lyric poem or elegy yet I still need more experience to create more of this kind of piece since it really needs a subject or experience to relate to for you to able to create a great lyric poem.
